Fruit of the Womb

As I was praying the Rosary yesterday, the phrase “fruit of your womb” hit me in a new way. Why do we refer to the unborn Jesus as fruit? What meaning does that have?

Of course, fruit has only positive connotations. It is something good that we all enjoy. Who doesn’t have a favorite fruit?

So, it is only natural to refer to Our Savior while He was in His mother’s womb as Fruit. Fruit comes from pollination. It represents new life. Indeed, much fruit is actually the covering of the seed which itself can start a new plant.

To refer to a baby in the womb as fruit signifies that this child is the result of the love of a man and woman. It is something good to be treasured and loved. It is not a negative thing to happen to a woman. When I was pregnant with my first child, I had book that explained how difficult biologically it is to become pregnant. So, when a woman does become pregnant, her body is rich with the fruit of her union.

There are many today who try to degrade pregnancy. They say it is a burden on women and their bodies. The no longer look at it as the fruit of the womb. Indeed, if you were to use that phrase, they’d probably look at you as if you had two heads.

Where does this attitude come from? From satan of course. He tries to destroy all the gifts we get from God, not the least of which are children. God is Love and His greatest gift is Life. Unfortunately, today, too many people do not understand this and reject this gift.

Commies are commies are commies

Back in the dark ages, before we learned all about diversity and inclusion, I was taught that communists were satan’s spawn on earth. We knew this because they did not believe in God.

Over the years, the cold war supposedly came to an end and communism was considered a failure. The Soviet Union broke apart and we all felt safe. Yes, China was out there but it just didn’t seem to have the same clout without the Soviet Union. And, word on the street was that the Chicoms were moving more and more towards capitalism.

Oh really?

I think the events in the past few weeks have shown that the commies are still alive and well. We read about all of the human rights violations in (Red) China. There is no religious freedom. There are forced abortions and forced sterilizations. And let’s not bring up the gulags in polite company. They thought the Olympics would make them look good but they forgot that we can see the weeds along with the flowers.

Now we move to Russia. It all became clear this week when Russia invaded Georgia. It’s as plain as the nose on my face that Putin never forgot his KGB training. He wants to control all of the old satellites. And the lies just keep pouring out of his mouth and the mouths of his lackeys.

And we thought all we had to worry about were the Islamofascists.

Listen to the Music

I was listening to a CD today of music from the 50’s/60’s. Suddenly it struck me. All of these songs were about love. Not sex, but love. There wasn’t a “ho” or an “f” in any of the lyrics. No mention of killing cops or other heinous crimes.

Just listen to the music and you will have proof of how far down our culture has sunk.
