Back in 1975, there was a big brouhaha that an ice age was coming. Oh, the outlook was dire. Food would become scarce and there would be famine and death throughout the world. It never happened.
A few years ago, Al Gore pronounced that the earth was warming at an alarming rate. Soon, all the glaciers would melt and the oceans would rise to such a height that NYC itself was in danger of becoming a modern day's Atlantis.
Now I understand that one no longer says "Global Warming" but "Climate Change". I am not exactly sure what that means. Doesn't the climate change all the time? It used to be known as seasons. Seriously, I know that the climate does change periodically over the millenia. At one time, Greenland was actually green. England was warmer and grew grapes. I've read of a mini ice age. This comes from Wikipedia:
"It is generally agreed that there were three minima, beginning about 1650, about 1770, and 1850, each separated by slight warming intervals."
Gee, notice that the three little ice ages were separated by 3 periods of warming. I wonder what Al Gore would say about that? Does this mean that what we are experiencing is normal? Should we not panic? Did humanity cause these changes or were there other natural forces at work?
I guess we will all have to stay tuned and see what happens.
