I went for my yearly mammogram in May. The next day, my neck was stiff. I thought it was from exercising. Over the next few days, it got worse. The pain was radiating down my arm into my hand and the tip of my left thumb became numb. The more I used a mouse and typed, the worse the pain got. Seeking relief, I went to my PCP. He gave me a prescription and recommended I go to an orthopedist. The PCP also said I needed an echo cardiogram and a colonoscopy.
I go to the orthopedist and they take an X-ray. They don't see anything broken and I am told I need a nerve test. I also get a new prescription because the pain isn't really getting better. Fortunately, that has helped.
I go for the nerve test and the result is I have a pinched nerve in my neck and carpal tunnel. Well, I already knew that from a test I had several years ago. The orthopedist recommends that I have surgery.
All because I went for a mammogram. And it's not even Lent.
