Training Regimen

The other day, the Mets' third baseman had off. The manager said he needed a day off. The guy is only 27 years old.

And how about how often a player will get hurt (I'm talking baseball here). Everyone has a strained oblique this season, whatever the heck that is. I'm probably mistaken but it seems to me that players years ago did not get so many injuries.

So, what can be done to make these guys stronger? Why should a young man of 27 need a day off? He has several months to rest in the offseason.

What these guys need is to have to take care of 2 or 3 toddlers all day, every day for about a month. And one should still be in diapers or maybe throw in an infant. How many Moms work all day, come home, take care of the kids, roll into bed 5 hours before they have to get up and get awakened in the middle of the night by a sick child? And even if you are home with the kids, you work all day.

And a day off? I went about 20 years without a day off.

Let these ballplayers do this and they'll never get injured and their stamina will be unending.
