It Was a Schism

I have been watching the pope in England and Scotland the past few days. Something I kept hearing over and over was "The English Reformation". Excuse me, it was not a reformation, it was a schism.

Henry VIII did not reform anything. He broke from the pope and the Catholic Church. He couldn't get his way so he rejected his faith. This event in history should be referred to "The Great English Schism" or "The Schism of Henry VIII".

And Luther didn't reform anything either. He also broke from Rome and we should refer to that as "The Luther Schism". If he really wanted to reform certain matters in the church, he should have stayed and worked on it. Probably was just looking for an excuse to give up his faith.

All loyal Catholics should join me in no longer referring to these events as "reformations" but as what they truly were: schisms.
