On Sunday night, my son Nat took me to see the NY Rangers play at Madison Square Garden. It was the first time I had been to a hockey game in over 30 years. It was so much fun and brought back a lot of memories. But I have to say that I didn't get the warm fuzzies like I do when it comes to the Mets.
That made me wonder: why did I stop following hockey in the first place? I mean, I used to be mad about the sport and knew all the players and teams (there were a lot few teams in those days). I went to the last game at the old Garden in 1968 and also got into the "new" Garden the day after it opened. For some reason, the doors weren't locked and we just went in and walked all around. Took a long time before we got thrown out.
But I digress. I've been pondering this topic and I can't remember why I lost interest. I know it wasn't because I got married since it started before that. I am perplexed. Should I get hypnotized and try to get the memories back or stick my head in that thing that Harry Potter uses?
In any event, I find myself paying more and more attention to hockey and maybe I'll get to some more games.
