I was watching Mets Hot Stove tonight and the discussion was about who would make up the bench. One of the prospects is Nick Evans. One commentator called him a "fan favorite".
The thought that popped into my head was "why Nick Evans"? Yes, he got 3 doubles in his first major league game and he has had some big hits but he's certainly far from being a superstar. He's not garrulous like some others and he's not notorious. But he does appeal to me and a lot of other fans. Do we sense something in him? Is it a bit of us who struggle to succeed as we watch Nick try to make a splash in the big leagues?
