A week from tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I know Christians around the globe will be going into Lent mode. Little children will be "giving up" something and more mature people will be working on their prayer lives, fasting and almsgiving.
As for me, well, technically I don't have to fast anymore but I still do. However, like a child waiting for Christmas morning, I am on pins and needles waiting to discover what my penance will be this year. As we know, the past few years God has not failed to send me something unusual. Whether it is a cracked rib or dental problems, something always is sent my way. I don't know if I can stand the anticipation.
